Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on January. 19. 1946 to a poor family with 12 kids later on, realized early that she could escape her hardships through a vivid imagination. Before she could read or write she wrote her own music. After 8 years of age, she had her very first guitar. When she was 11 years old she started singing on Knoxville Tenn's radio station. In the same year, she recorded her debut recording for Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. The singer established a name in the local scene while at high school, but wanted to perform on a larger stage. After graduating from the high school in 1964, she immediately moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (both 1967) as well as Something Fishy were among her first Monument Records chart-topping records. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female singer for his show that was syndicated in the years prior to this. Parton joined RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She accepted her job in 1967. The show ended in 1974, as her own albums like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene had begun charting their collaborative efforts. Parton recorded I Will Always love You for Wagoner after their breakup. It made it to No. The first time in 1974.
